Ghost Quilting Series - Block 9

I first got into documenting my quilting journey by blogging years and years ago, and if you want to go and read that silly blog, you can still do that 😆 quiltingcurve.blogspot, but I can no longer be held responsible for what is posted there. 

Back to the project at hand.  When my brother and I were younger, we shared a true love of the written word.  We both loved to write, read, and recite poetry (he was better than I was).  We both played in a number of productions, most notably Tom Sawyer.  So this quill is what I decided to do in this quilt block to represent the hobby of the written word.

In the mini border, I tried to do the rope design, and if you've been around here for a while, you may know that this design just kinda has my number, and I need some serious practice.  Hahaha, I'll conquer this design one day.  And as a background fill, I kept it simple with some wavy lines to represent the flow of writing.
